Workshop day at DPS Gurgaon and International Schools

After a week of visiting and enjoying our time with family and friends the time has come to present ourselves and our country also at school. We had our welcome (which was really lovely by the way) last week so we were planing to get to know the building and teachers better. We got up pretty early because our school buses are leaving at 6:45. We've arrived to school at 7:00 so we had some time to meet new friends and our partners showed us their classes. Delhi Public School is MUCH different than PALO. First of all it's bigger  (actually I can use the word "huge" here). There is 475 teacher and many, many, manystudents walking around in the same uniforms. They have the same t-shirts, the same socks, even very similar boots too. For us, being used to our freedom, it was a very weird experience but also very educating.

When Anna M'am joined us we all took a walk around school with one of the teachers who showed us chemistry and biology labs, dance and music classes, cafeteria, football field, the auditorium.....(there is a lot of it).I loved the fashion technology class with sewing machines and the fine arts class with a lot of paintings and drawings. We''ve also found out that this school is divided into three sections: A, B and C and they teach students up to 12th grade.

Anna M'am left the Polish students (the Indians were not showing us around) in the clay pottery class and we got 45 minutes to try ourselves out in making some pots. It was a little bit of a rush but of course it was also a lot of fun while some of us had never done anything connected to pottery before.

When we were finished with our pots we headed to the DPS International School for a bit of visiting too. It was an amazing experience. I was suprised by the Delhi's Public School size but in DPS International I was suprised by the flourish that it's made with. Even from the outside it look a bit like a palace and from the inside a bit like a five-stars hotel. But it's not that much important, mostly the atmosphere and the teachers are what we want to be the best. I think in India International Schools are becoming more and more popular which I'm very happy about because it's some kind of a proof that global education is developing here.Thank you for a great hospitality!

After visiting DPS International we went back to Delhi Public School straight away to the Dance & Music classes. We met out Indian friends there and we sang some songs and learned some choreographies together. I found doing that activities at school really cool because in Kraków we don't really have the space to do it.

After these classes and lunch at school (tasty) we went for a bit of sightseeing too. Of course while living so near Delhi our duty is to see the Qutab Minar so Monday was chosen to do it. It took about an hour to go around and see everything, our teachers wanted it to be quite quick because of the high temperature. As to my impressions after seeing that famous tower I have to say I was really shocked, I wasn't prepared for so much beauty enclosed in  one monument. The red sandstone and marble construction is amazing and I fell in love with the carvings covering the tower. While walking around that place I really felt the atmosphere of ancient mystery and I could find a soul hiding behind these walls (I had the same feeling during our trip to Jaipur).

After busy day we went back home where we could piecefully rest and spend some time with our families. I've arranged a Skype conversation between my family in Poland and the host family here. I had an impression that both sides liked it and probably we're going to do it one more time in India and after my come back to Poland. It's that beautiful thing about exchanges that a lot of "life time friendships" can be made and not only between students but also between their families. by Natalia Nikoniuk

One week has flown in a whirlwind of activities and as we get to know our friends  fun and  learning   keeps on increasing day by day. Today was another interesting day because it was the first day that our Polish friends attended school with us. Since their schooling system is very different from ours it was a an interesting  experience for them. While we went to our new classes the Polish group took  a tour of our school. they liked the  fine arts class where they worked with clay .They went for a visit to DPS INTERNATIONAL. They were given a warm welcome and they  had a wonderful time at the International school. We all went for music class. We learnt  and sang three beautiful Hindi songs and enjoyed it very much. After the music class we proceeded for the  dance lessons. All of us learnt some the  Bollywood moves to the tunes of the Hindi songs. After school time  we visited the  world heritage site known as Qutub Minar. There was a tour of the minaret. We all took many photos of each other and of the monument.  We reached school by 5:30pm. The day was  different  in many ways! it was our first day of the new academic year...and also the first day in school with our exchange guest.
I am sure the rest of the days which are left will be full interesting and fun filled.Kshiti Sinha
