THE ENDING OF THE NEW BEGINNING
Hello again!!! Dear reader
After 13 days for us Indians and 15 days
for our Polish friends, the first leg of the 1st rhythm of the
Indo-Polish exchange has come to an end, but it has been the start of a new beginning. Before expressing my views on this journey, I think we should
first steer our thoughts on what an exchange program is and what THIS exchange
means to me.This was an exchange that was different
from the rest by miles. Well, why? This difference is because this exchange was with a country that does not
have any direct involvement in shaping our culture. Most of the exchanges which
happen in India are with those countries whose language is taught in schools,
like USA, UK (English),Germany, France etc. The exchange could only take place
due to the bond which was forged between Anna ma’am and Mamta ma’am, with the
help of the Principals from both sides. This actually takes me to the point
where I am thinking about destiny because many things had to actually fall in
place so that WE could be a part of this program. I would have liked to talk
about this … but due to space constraints, I would like to conclude by saying
that WE ARE TRULY LUCKY TO BE PART OF THIS INITIATIVE. So,yes! Coming back to those 13 days, lots
of activities done, people met, sites seen . I wish I could have told you all
about the different activities which the
Indo-Polish contingent took up ,but due to space constraints and
space-hijacking by the other members, I am unable to give the full details. BUT,
what I can give you is my perspective. So,here it is….
In these 13 days, I found that the people from
both the countries are the same, the experiences may be different but the
behavior is same, the topics, the reaction to music and dance.
In these 13 days, I found that the world is
truly small and we live in a ‘global village’.
In these 13 days, I found that a cultural
exchange is much more than making friends, learning languages etc. it is a portal which changes
you, which transforms, makes you more confident about yourself, makes you see
things which were not seen earlier. I had seen some people change after the
exchange, but was in self-denial and like always, happily proved wrong.
In these 13 days, I found out there is more
to girls than choosing clothes. In these 13 days, I found cracking jokes was not
my field and so on .
Well, whatever my viewpoint may have been,
what we all know is that Anna ma’am was the most energetic person of the group .She
was the showstopper, her coming to India with the Polish flag to her escorting
our friends back to their country, she did everything to tell us about our
country and I am very proud of people like her.
They came here with their flag and
with pride talked of their Polish
culture …. the legacy they left behind
of friendship of acceptance matters the
most. The way they accepted our country, how they ate our food, danced to the
tunes of Bolly wood numbers and sang the hindi songs , wore the clothes
we wore, was astonishing for me…astonishing not because they tried, but because
the way they so effortlessly tried it, liked it and made it their own. I hope I
could achieve this sort of adaptability when I go there to Krakow.
Well, before sleep takes over me, I
conclude by saying that the best things go as suddenly as they came .
Dobranoc!!
Regards
Shubham Sharma
Good
evening Principal Ms Aditi Misra, Vice Principal, Dear Host Parents, Teachers and Ffcriends. Before I came to India, I thought it was just a colourful
country with lots of people wearing unusual outfits, like saree or suit.
My view of this country was bordered by what I could see in movies or
photos. Staying here for about two weeks, made me think about India
slightly different. The country is much more than just colours and food -
that by the way is delicious ;) It is similar to every country that
I've visited, it has rich and poor sides. I've seen very developed
India, but also the one that need work, but yesterday, when our
Indo-Polish group did community service for underprivileged children, I
saw developement, hard work, ambitions and happiness. All this thing I
was able to see, meeting kids from the village. One of them told us that
he wants to become a doctor to help people in need and another one is
thought by his father and keeps coming to your school to become an
educator for the people in his village, how global thinking it is.
Yesterday's dance classes and talking to that kids made me realised that
India is even more colourful and beautiful than I could ever imagine.
I'm very happy that I was able to come here to see this great country
and to meet great people, that I and all my Polish friends were living
with under the Indians hospitality roof ;) the culture of India is a lot
different than European one, so it is unusual for us to experience it
as the citizens of India. I hope I could stay here longer or come here
again, to be enriched with your culture, religion and a good spirit.
First of all thank you to my host family for masala tea in my bua's
house, meeting all of your friends and family members. I will do my best
for Vrinda to feel as amazing in Poland as I felt here. Thank you all
for making it possible for me to come to DPS Gurgaon. Julia Chmiel
